Lighten Up the Weight of Your Key Chain

Written By: admin on August 2, 2009 3 Comments

Do you have a lot of keys on the same key chain as your car key?  That is a pretty heavy load hanging off the car key when it is is in the ignition hole.  These extra keys are extra weight combined with bouncing while you are driving, can result wear out to the tumblers inside the ignition and eventually lead to ignition switch failure.  It's actually better if you can lighten up your key chain and try to separate keys in a different key chain to avoid this type of problem.  If your ignition key sticks when you try to turn on the car, it is generally a warning that your ignition switch is about to fail and you should replace it before you get stranded.

Great point! Now if only the manufacturers would stop making the remote fobs so large. My pockets are bulging.
